Oil Extraction Technology

Through a license agreement and joint venture relationship with The Coach House Group UK, Ltd., IET is bringing to the U.S. market a new technology for the economic extraction of high value bioactive compounds and oils from plants. This new technology has been developed over the past twenty years and is considered to be the most important and cost effective extraction technology to have emerged during the last 25 years.
By utilizing a new family of ozone friendly, hydro fluorocarbon solvents which are FDA approved, non-flammable, non-corrosive, non-toxic and have a boiling point of –25°C, IET’s essential oils extraction technology and equipment is superior in nearly every aspect when compared to the other principal worldwide methods of producing plant extracts: steam distillation, conventional solvent extraction and super critical carbon dioxide.
Oils produced by IET equipment are of superior quality, free flowing and clear oils, not subjected to thermal degradation. These oils are free of solvent residue and not exposed to acid hydrolysis or oxidative damage. The production plant equipment used for extraction is modular in design, transportable and can be located “on site” near existing crops. IET’s unique extraction technology eliminates the costs associated with the storage, use and regulatory compliance requirements of the hazardous chemicals used in other extraction methods, and there is no harmful or liquid waste to be disposed of after the extraction cycle is complete.
Advantages include:

  • Higher yields of volatile oil
  • Lower quantity of undesirable compounds
  • Superior quality
  • Totally safe
  • Extraction occurs at ambient temperatures
  • >Minimal solvent loss (about 3% per year)
  • Solvent residues in extracts are 1,000 times less than hexane
  • No vacuum distillation is necessary to remove solvents
  • Minimal energy consumption and
  • No harmful waste
