Anolyte and catholyte solutions have been used for the stimulation
and enhancement of oil and gas production and to improve the
performance of drilling muds for more than 20 years.
Today, EcaFloŽ anolyte solutions are being
used to enhance production from wells which have
been impacted by down-hole growth of bacteria,
and other microorganisms, by killing the
bacteria and removing the restrictive biomass.
Water used for the fracturing of oil and gas wells can be
treated with anolyte solutions to manage bacteria, protecting
fracturing fluids and gels, and ensuring polymer and propant
performance. Anolyte solutions remove scale and slime build-up
from pipes, and cooling water systems can be kept free of
biomass, improving heat exchange values and eliminating corrosion
caused microbial induced corrosion (MIC). Produced water may
be treated before being revised in stimulation fluids or water
floods.
Recent data collected from field operations where frac water
was treated with anolyte, shows that the bacteria levels in
the frac water were reduced below the threshold level that
would adversely impact stimulation fluids and gels.
Catholyte has been shown to substantially
reduce the surface tension of water and can be
used to condition water used to stimulate well
production.
Generally, anolyte and catholyte solutions have been effective
in the management of bacteria and other microorganisms in
oil and gas production for years. Working with Benchmark Energy
Products, L. P. I.E.T.'s exclusive distributor of EcaFloŽ
equipment and solutions to the oil and gas industry, it is
now possible to utilize this unique technology to improve
production and profits and do so in an environmentally responsible
manner. EcaFloŽ solutions quickly return to their original
state – a weak salt brine.
The
control of bacteria and other pathogens in food processing
is made easier through the use of ECA solutions. Surface sanitizing
of food preparation areas and equipment can be accomplished
with ECA solutions. Both anolyte and catholyte solutions are
easy to use, store and handle. Fresh vegetables and fruits
can be placed in a rinse, post harvest, to manage bacteria
and other pathogens which results in an extended shelf life
of the treated food. Delivery of the ECA solutions can be
made in liquid, aerosol or ice form. Seafood packed on ice
made from anolyte has an extended shelf life over products
packed on ice alone.
EcaFloŽ anolyte “ice” can be made for packing
fresh foods after harvest and extends the shelf life of meats,
seafood and vegetables by greatly reducing bacterial degradation
during the time in transit to processing plants or points
of sale.
Controlling bacteria on food preparation
surfaces, walls, floors, utensils, equipment,
conveyors, containers, etc. can be accomplished
by using catholyte to remove protein load,
followed by anolyte to sanitize the surface.
This combination greatly reduces the chance for
re-contamination of food from cutting and
slicing equipment, conveyor belts,
turning/flipping equipment, packaging equipment,
etc.
EcaFloŽ Anolyte, which is mostly hypochlorous acid, is highly
effective in controlling foodborne pathogens. Studies at Oklahoma
State University and the University of Arkansas have proven
that anolyte is an effective anti-microbial agent against
pathogens including E. coli 0157:H, Salmonella typhimirium
and Listeria monocytogenes.
Anolyte solutions have
been proven to be a much more effective anti-microbial agent
against E. coli 0157:H than chlorinated water, ozone, chlorine
dioxide or chlorine.
